January 2008
Hi *|FNAME|*.
Early Notification - New paintings
Exclusively for Newsletter Subscribers!
I have completed several new paintings since October 2007. Before the general public can see these paintings, you can have an exclusive preview at:
http://www.suedickinson.co.za/new_paintings_January_08.html
You MUST use this link because the Original Paintings link on my site will not be visible to the public until mid-January. This advance notification is for you, subscribers to my Newsletter.
The new paintings are:
"Buffalo Herd I"
This is a very large painting, so several detailed views are included. It is very difficult to photograph these large works and the reproduction here is not perfect. If you are interested in purchasing the painting, I recommend asking me for additional photographs.
"Route March"
Another very large painting (150 x 100cm; 60 x 40") of a herd of zebra heading to water. I love the way the sunlight bleaches their stripes.
"Lions Can Smile"
This lioness just seems to have a happy face. The painting is in a portrait format which is unusual for me - I usually use a landscape format. I find lions very difficult to paint because their colour is so variable - from a pale yellow to a dark khaki green. It's tough to get it right.
"Jaunt"
A superb female leopard draped on a branch. She looks so relaxed and confident.
"Rest in Peace, Tjololo"
Very sad news. Tjololo, the leopard I have painted so many times, died at the beginning of November. He was 14, a good age for a leopard. Tjololo was a star - he appeared in several films and on the cover of National Geographic Magazine. Kim Wolhuter's films have made him immortal. I've added a special Tribute page on my site.
"Tjololo Sitting"
A rear view of The Dude. Follow the link to see several other paintings featuring Tjololo.
"Zebras in the Dust"
Strictly speaking, this isn't a new painting, but the sale fell through so it is available for purchase. It is currently on exhibition in Denver, Colorado with the Society of Animal Artists 47th Annual Exhibition and will tour the USA from March to the end of 2008. It can be exhibited as "SOLD" but the painting will only be available to the buyer once the exhibition is over. This painting received an "Award For Excellence".
I hope you enjoy these new works as much as I enjoyed making them. If you have any queries, please contact me at art@megaweb.co.za.
I'm tweaking the site at the moment, so if any links aren't working yet you're welcome to contact me directly.
Best wishes for 2008.
Sue
