Fine art print of giraffes

Fine art print of giraffes. Limited edition wildlife print.

Although Sue Dickinson has gained her reputation as one of South Africa’s most respected artists, she worked very hard. Over the years, her technique developed with experience. Now her paintings are in collections all over the world. From USA, to Russia, India, UK, Australia, Germany and many more countries.

Giraffe Trio shows giraffes looking left, right and centre. Despite their large size they’re still hunted by lions. When giving birth, giraffe calves drop an incredible 2 meters to the ground. Within minutes, they get up on their wobbly legs and are able to walk, thus avoiding predators.

Their only main predator is lions, who often chase them down to tire them, then climb on their backs. Delivering a deadly bite to the neck causes strangulation and, ultimately, death.

She has perfected the art of painting animals. The leopard is possibly her favourite subject, because of its rarity and beauty. Enjoying painting zebras and other animals too, her style has remained clean and uncluttered.

Sue studied B.A. (Fine Arts) at the University of the Witwatersrand and at the University of South Africa in the early 1980’s. After that, she studied Graphic Design at Johannesburg Technikon, and pursued a career in design and advertising, running her own graphic design studio, called Fusion Graphics, for several years. She began painting on a full-time basis in 1993 and concentrated on Wildlife Art in 2000.
